This week in the Nursery the children have been focusing on different activities to help their fine motor skills. The children spent time threading different sized beads onto spaghetti, pipecleaners and string. They focused on picking up the small beads with their thumb and one finger before threading it onto spaghetti, pipecleaner or string. The children also spent sometime using stickle bricks, popoids and poppers experimenting different ways to click them together to make their own creation. The children had to use the strength in their hands to get the different shapes clipped together. Focusing on fine motor helps children to work on their hand eye coordination, pre-writihg skills and their cognitive development.
