Exploring Our New Topic in P7K!
We started 2026 with a new topic and we were set with a challenge.
We had 4 tables and on each table were photos, articles and resources linked to our topic. Each group had 15 minutes at each station on the Carousel.
In those 15 minutes we had to explore the resources, discuss and see if we could work out what our new topic was!
The classroom was a bit loud, filled with a buzz of excitement and discussion. Exactly how a P7 classroom should be!
We worked out our topic is: Hunger.
Each station represented Hunger in different scenarios, which we are going to explore.
1. Hunger in the world, places we expect hunger countries with a well documented story.
2. Hunger in places we don't expect it, countries we go on holiday too and countries we deem "wealthy"
3. Hunger in our local community, including photos, articles and resources linked to Food Bank in Newry.
4. The Great Famine.
The class are going to spend the term answering the questions we gathered this week.
We are going to investigate what causes famine, why was it a social issue then and why is it still a social issue? What can we do to change it? What impact can we have?
Over the next term we will be sharing our work and demonstrating how WAU can be linked with all other curriculum areas.
We have sorted our questions and have started our Working Wall as we endeavour to find out.
We hope you follow us on our exciting learning journey!
