Another Wonderful WAU Lesson for P7K!

30th Jan 2026
This week Primary 7 have been investigation, we got out our digital technology to do some work.

We have a list of questions we need to answer and the first one was: Why is there famine in the World today?

We discussed which websites we could trust, because you can't believe everything you read on the internet can you?

We asked the questions, choosing countries we know are experiencing famine. We looked up the common causes of famine in the world today, these included poverty, climate change, poor government and war or conflict, among other things.

We researched 14 countries experiencing famine and we found out the top 3 reasons for famine in the world today were: Poor Government, Climate Change and War and Conflict. There are also secondary causes of famine.

Our discussion revolved around our surprise that there are many contributing factors but ultimately Famine can be avoided with the right government. All of our research was the most up to date information and the conversation in the classroom was in full flow, the main question: What can we do to help?

We marked off a few of our questions from our Carousel Activity and are keen to find out what happens next: Next week we will be investigating: Who is helping?

This topic has got off to a great start and if you want to find out more, ask our super smart crew who are doing all of the hard work!
