Book Week NI 2025 (20th - 26th October)

17th Oct 2025

Next week marks the tenth anniversary of Book Week NI, running from Monday 20 October to Sunday 26 October 2025. Jointly organised by BBC Northern Ireland and Libraries NI, this initiative has spent the past decade celebrating the joy and importance of reading across communities, families, and schools.

Reading is more than just a simple hobby. It improves memory, reduces stress, boosts focus, expands vocabulary, and helps build positive daily habits. Most importantly, it nurtures a lifelong love of books and stories in your child.

How You Can Get Involved

There are lots of simple and engaging ways to celebrate Book Week NI at home:

  • Read for pleasure: Dedicate at least 15 minutes a day to independent reading.
  • Share recommendations: Encourage family members to swap their ‘must-read’ favourites. Your child can even record 60-second book pitches and send them to paula.gilmurray@bbc.co.uk.
  • Connect with your local library: Promote library membership and sign up during Book Week.
  • Share your own reflections: Talk about the books you enjoy reading and/or are currently reading.
