Mrs Kearney's class enjoyed an outdoor lesson with chalk to master compass points and turns. In pairs, they began by drawing a compass and labelling each point and the directions 'clockwise' and 'anticlockwise'. They then stood in the centre and as the directions were called out they physically turned and moved accordingly. We then extended the learning to focus on the different angles between various points on a compass. The pupils enjoyed the combination of teamwork, being outdoors and physical movement as part of this numeracy lesson.
