π¨β¨π¨πβ¨Exploring the Dotted World of Yayoi Kusama in Nursery! π¨β¨π¨πβ¨
This week the children explored the colourful, dot-filled artwork of Yayoi Kusama, especially her famous pumpkins and her use of reflective surfaces.
The children used cotton buds to make bright dots on shiny tinfoil, just like Kusama’s reflective installations. Many children followed their own schemas — making lines of dots or arranging spots in patterns.
We also decorated pumpkins and a range of 3D objects such as tubes, boxes, and bottles with colourful dot stickers. Children enjoyed covering, wrapping, and connecting dots across the surfaces.
The children were developing fine motor skills, exploring pattern, repetition and colour, making meaningful connections to the work of real artists, and were so proud to display their bright, dotty creations.
Well done, little artists! π
