We were delighted to welcome a very special visitor to our nursery this week - Firefighter Fegan. She spoke to the children all about fire safety in the home, especially as we approach Christmas - talking about our Christmas decorations. She also told the children all about her job and the different things they have to do.
The children all listened attentively and learnt lots about how they can help their adults keep their house safe. They learnt about the importance of our fire alarms and were reminded to test it every Tuesday!
We also learned about the Stop, Drop and Roll technique if their clothes were ever to catch fire. The children loved getting the chance to demonstrate this technique.
A highlight of the visit was when Mrs Brannigan tried on firefighter Fegan's protective equipment that she has to wear to protect her from heat, flames and other hazards.
We want to say a huge thank you to firefighter Fegan for taking the time to visit us and teach us all about fire safety.
