Our Voices Matter: Learning to Speak Up and Stay Safe. P.3 (YW)

21st May 2026

Today, the children had a visit from Margaret from the NSPCC. She spoke to the children about keeping safe and knowing when to speak out if something is worrying them.

Margaret introduced Buddy, the NSPCC’s friendly speech bubble character. Buddy helps children remember that they should always speak out if they have any worries or concerns. Buddy reminds everyone that children have the right to be heard and taken seriously.

The children talked about:

  • The different types of hurt (such as feeling upset, unsafe, or being treated unkindly)
  • When something might not feel right
  • The importance of telling a trusted adult

They also thought carefully about safe adults they could talk to, both in school and outside school, if they ever needed help or support.

The children learned about Childline and how it is there for children who are worried, upset, or need someone to talk to. They discussed how Childline can be contacted whenever help or advice is needed.

Overall, the session helped the children understand that they have the right to speak out, be listened to, stay safe, and get help whenever they need it.
