This week Primary 7 had the opportunity to take part in an online call with Marita Conlon-McKenna, Marita wrote the favourite Irish classics 'Under the Hawthorn Tree' and 'The Wildflower Girl' among many other wonderful pieces of literature.
The children in Primary 7 will read this much loved novel in term 2. Many of the parents and staff have also read the book. Marita spoke about her inspiration for the novel and how she did not expect it to be as loved as it was. She said she wrote the story for her own daughter.
The children in P7 got to listen and interact, with a question and answer session at the very end.
We were all very happy to be able to listen to such a wonderful author talk about her work. Thank you to Mrs McShane and the Newry and Mourne museum for their part in making this happen for us.
